He was always wishing to crack the US music market as an artist, but circumstance always posed a new and fresh challenges. I was talking to him about getting a recording deal with one of the American Record Labels, and his optimism to jump at the opportunity, when it arises. After two years of deliberations and nothing seemed to happen, we met at Baragwanath Taxi Rank just opposite Santa Hospital; and he hit me with a BIG surprise. Mzwandile Khali is a prolific musician from Pimville Soweto. Self-taught tenor saxophone and piano player studied his music at Funda Centre Diepkloof in the late 90's. He graduated with a diploma in music. Like any Sowetan youth who struggles to make ends meet to find their feet and a stable career, Mzwandile did not give up on his dream. He was now a student at Wits University studying music with a year’s scholarship obtained after a music audition that went incredibly well. It is a four years music degree and a little difficult for him because, he has a family to support and look after. So! There was no means of income to keep them family going. I was a little concerned that is why I initiated this fundraising campaign to help raise money for this purpose. Please donate to this cause! Otherwise his dream will be farfetched to realize, and therefore die if financial support is not forthcoming. A year later, we met and he had dropped out of varsity because of financial difficulties. Although he continues teaching children violin this is something special he does for the community of Pimville in Soweto. He has not given up on his will to pursue the dream. I was disappointed and daunted when I learnt that he could not finish his studies due to lack of money. Now as I contribute to this blog, I hope to revive him by encouraging him to continue. The best I could do, if he still wishes to realize his goal was to take a video of him playing one of his favourite songs to promote his talent on this web. Maybe someone out-there will notice him, that's how people get a break isn't it? My goal is to try if we can all reach out to help fulfill Mzwandile's Dream of obtaining his degree in music. One other important thing to mention is for him to continue teaching our children from ages 7 to 15 years old violin and the theory of music. I really want this fellow to prove his villains and enemies wrong. Most of his peers think he is a failure and he will not make it to the top in his career as a music teacher and coach. The guy is gifted, talented and a genius, don't you think he deserves a break? I will also see if I can take pictures of him and post them on the blog. But above all else, I want you to listen to how this fellow plays on YouTube Channel. For me, some of these artists are very much neglected and unknown by the music industry, because they search for talent in wrong places. I hope this Blog will make an impact for this post, I am confident the interview with him will go on smoothly. Peace Mr. Isaac Khonjelwayo
It took me more than a little while to realize that there was a man on the road side opposite SUN1 hotel in Southgate intersection robots . And that, this person has long been in this dangerous place, without anyone doing anything about it. I was wondering how this person was able to carry such a load of bags and parcels on their own to end up on this sacred place.
Why Am I So Worried About This Man? The first question that came to my mind was; when does he go to pee? or wash himself or find time for number 2 to relief himself! These questions were running in my head without finding a reasonable answer to justify his inconvenience for being there in the first place. I started worrying about his safety and comfort, as winter was closing in. (It was very cold and a little freezing on the day I realized this incident). I could not stop thinking how the clothes and parcels he was carrying would look like. If we all just took the time to find out who he is. Clean the fellow up to give him a new fresh start in life. More than that, I am anxious to see the face behind that mask. Then a surprising answer just popped up, in my head! the OMO "dirt is good" TV ad. In fact my concern was that - everything he held on was all on the ground and accumulating rain water, dust filth and dirt. The temptation to adopt this "mishap" was growing stronger and desirable and fitted my plan to enlist it as one of my "Tick A Box - Dream Wish List" community out-reach 2021 project. As a result my options to ignore it became limited; so I got hooked and was engulf to act without thinking to make it my job - And make follow up to seek helpers and supporters raise awareness to solve this problem. My Ignorance Was Not Always Blissful - But The OMO Advert Made Me Find Inspiration What I feared most was what will follow, if I ignored to act on my intuition that something was terribly wrong with this "picture-of-life on the urge" and what will happen if I pretended that everything is OK. This was a disturbing and a haunting feeling to assume someone other that myself will do something extra-ordinary to avert and allay my fears. Fears of seeing this happen - like an accident of this magnitude in the video below, was an awakening experience to act with conviction to contact OMO, to help clean up this guy. I thought if "a stitch in time saves nine" this is worth doing something about. It was not going to hurt any soul, was it? By the way, I had every choice to ignore this and forget about it completely. But, my conscience was fighting with my logic; find an excuse to avoid it and let go of caring about it. After all the country is in a deep creepy COVID-19 and Corruption crisis., No one will ever listen, or pay attention to my plea. I honestly don't know why I thought OMO would come to the rescue, except that: The "look of hope and caring on the eyes of the women and the guy" on the OMO advert spoke to my heart. It was a question of simply taking the matter into my hands to contact OMO in my attempts to help the hopeless. "Anyone anywhere in the country is capable of making a difference to save lives. We just need to open our hearts and minds- to see and find out what God wants us to do. In extending His love and grace for humanity to survive; by working with us through us together. To reach out and touch each suffering person and impacting on their happiness is a rare feat to undertake. Letting that glow of a smile on their face -to shine and light up the sky like the rays of the morning Sun, is what humans were born to do"! That is what the message of OMO Billboard Advertisement on the N1 North at Wits in Johannesburg was saying to me. It spoked to my heart and I listened with my soul. So! I leave the rest in the hands of God. I've made my intensions, thoughts and persuasions loud and clear, without any reservation to hold back my humble contribution to make this difference count. Therefore, "If it is to be - It is up to Him". AuthorBy: Isaac Khonjelwayo There is absolute danger to both motorists and pedestrians, if Metro Cops or the Dept. of Social Development does not do something about this problem. The man on this pictures sleeps, eats and does everything on these Main road intersection. of Southgate Mall. It took me a while to notice that, he's been there for more than 6 weeks. Seems like he is motionless and can't help himself too. (Can we do something bout it)? A Plea To Metro Cops | Social Development & SAPS Officials:
As a community we need to do something to remove the person and place him where he will be safe and looked after by someone, i.e. Social Development. This Bra Ike peace! AuthorBy: Isaac Khonjelwayo |
